Tale of Siya Ram

They met first

5th day of ‘Shukla Paksha’

According to Speaking Tree, Rama and Lakshman reached Janakpuri along with sage Vishvamitra for Sita's Swaymvara. When there, they had some time to see around the place. The next day, Rama and Lakshman visited a small garden near Janak's place, where Sita was already worshipping Parvati. It is said that then and there, Lord Rama was enamoured by the beauty of Sita - it was almost like the entire world had bowed down to her beauty.

Vanvas

14 years in Sat Yug

Rama had gone to Panchavati (present day) Nashik for vanvas for 14 years with his wife Sita and younger brother, Lakshmana. They had been forced by their stepmother, Kaikeyi to go there as she wanted her son, Bharata to be the King of Ayodhya after their father's rule, Dasharatha. Hence, to maintain the integrity of Dasaratha, Rama chose to go to the jungles.

Sita Haran & Ravan Wadh

Ravan Vadh at Amavasya

Ravana, to kidnap Sita, made a plan. Maricha, his uncle, disguised himself as a magnificent deer to lure Sita. Sita, attracted to its golden glow asked her husband to make it her pet. When Rama and Lakshmana went far away from the hut, Ravana kidnapped Sita, disguising himself as a mendicant.

According to Ramayana, Ravana had lost the battle fought with Lord Rama. This battle was fought because Ravana kidnapped Sita. He was well versed with knowledge basically in architecture, scriptures, and astrology i.e why he had ten heads. But finally, he was killed by Lord Rama.

Ayodhya Return

Diwali Eve

Among one of the reasons Diwali is celebrated with such pomp and show is that mythologically, it is said to be the day when Lord Ram returned to Ayodhya with his wife Sita and brother Laxman after a prolonged exile of 14 years and defeating Lanka King Ravan. Dusshera, also celebrated as Vijay Dashami of the Durga Puja, was when Ram defeated the 10-headed demon god with the blessing from the goddess. In a way Diwali, is a continuation of Durga Puja as it is the celebrations of homecoming after the war and victory.

And, This Tale lives Forever
